The Range Rover Sport is just as luxurious and capable off-road as any top of the line Range Rover from the British brand. You will go for the sporty variant when you don’t need the extra space and body size. As a result, the Range Rover Sport is an easier to manoeuvre car, whilst keeping the same offroad capabilities and luxurious amenities as its bigger brother. Comparable cars to the Ranger Rover Sport are the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Just like the bigger Range Rover, the Sport model can also go through all challenging terrains through its Terrain Response system designed to manage drives over grass, gravel, snow, mud, sand and rocks.
The Range Rover sport comes as standard with a leather finished interior and quality trims all-round. The infotainment system has also been upgraded for the 2019 model with a three-screen layout. You get one screen behind the steering wheel, one screen in the middle of the dashboard and another below it which lets you change the climate control settings, driving modes and seat heating. Unfortunately, the infotainment system isn’t as intuitive and easy to use like on German alternatives. It also doesn’t come with Android Auto or Apple Carplay.
You do feel more cocooned in the Sport version, where everything feels much closer to you. The driving position is very comfortable, you don’t feel like you are sitting on the car but rather in it. There are plenty of arm supports and seat adjustments to make you feel very comfortable in the car.
The rear seats sit quite low, so your knees are a little bit high which is not so comfortable. You can also not stretch out as much with your legs. Headroom is perfectly fine, due to the low seating position. You can recline the rear seats to make yourself more comfortable.
Unlike the regular Range Rover that has no 7-seat option, this Range Rover Sport comes with 7 seats, but you can see it as a 5+2 layout. The third-row seats are quite cramped for adults but perfect for kids.
The boot is very usable, it has no load lip so you can easily take in and out large heavy items. Under the boot you find a complete original size spare tire.
This generation of Land Rover Sport is almost half a ton lighter than the previous generation. Combined with the powerful engines, the Sport variant is very effortless to drive especially when you go with the six- or eight-cylinder engines. Although handling wise, it’s the least “sport” SUV compared to any of the alternatives.
The Range Rover Sport is a luxurious SUV with proper off-road capabilities. It’s the perfect choice for someone that likes to cruise around with a statement. Feel free to check out our deals page and find the best price for the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.
